Quality Systems Specialist

This position is responsible for developing and controlling the Quality System of Game Change Solar. Position is mainly responsible for actively driving and ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 quality standards and expectations.

Quality Systems Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Assist in maintaining and developing GCS Quality Management Systems (QMS) in compliance with industry quality standards-ISO 9001
  • Provide support in collecting customer surveys from project sites and organize the details into overall customer feedback template.
  • Provide technical assistance in inspecting and evaluating sample parts from suppliers globally at the headquarters office in Norwalk and report feedback to suppliers
  • Formulate, develop and maintain process documentation, including Corporate Quality Manual, Quality Procedures, SOPs and Work Instructions
  • Prepare and/or approve Quality documentations like FAI (First Article Inspection), product delivery clearances, vendor audits and RCCA (8D Reports)
  • Collaborate with production/commodity team and manufacturing at suppliers to resolve quality aspects of products supplied to customers
  • Participate and lead internal and external quality system audits. Ensure compliance with industry-specific quality standard-ISO 9001
  • Collect and analyze supplier quality data to drive improvements. Communicate supplier related non-conformances with suppliers. Follow up necessary activities to eliminate risk of re-occurrences.
  • Co-ordinate with product development and commodity team on supplier selection, assessment, yearly audits, and development opportunities
  • Assist in handling information of non-confirming materials at customer sites, logging cases into ERP system associated with those NCM’s
  • Support in investigate, evaluate, and resolve supplier quality problems, analyzing defect trends with ICA, PCA & RCCA, and leading continuous improvement actions
  • Bring continuous focus on problem solving and improving process controls
  • Get involved in Daily Management and proactively reduce the risk to Quality & Delivery by working on resolving potential issues with along cross functional teams
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to understand drawings and preparation of quality documents.
  • Sound knowledge of Quality standards like ASTM, 8D method, PPAP, FMEA techniques and ISO 9001
  • Data Collection and basic analytical skills
Quality Systems Specialist Required Skills & Experience:
  • B.E. in mechanical engineering preferred
  • Experience in use of basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers etc.)
  • Experience in Rolling, Sheet metal stamping, Assembly, Manufacturing, Machining and Galvanization, etc. - preferably from industry which makes Steel/Structural.
  • Good Problem-Solving and Communication skills
  • Strong analytical ability with data reasoning and detail orientation
  • Results orientation – must deliver results & have sense of urgency to deliver on time
  • Collaboration – ability to work in cross-functional teams for achievement of objectives
  • Functional excellence – Passion for Quality, must possess the necessary functional and working know-how

    Solar Field Research Technician Apprentice

    We are searching for a Solar Field Research Technician Apprentice with an interest in learning about solar installation. The ideal candidate should have a background in a hands-on trade such as: framing, HVAC, autobody, agriculture or construction. The candidate should possess a high level of attention to detail in their work. This is a prime opportunity with the advantage of creative, hands-on work which allow the candidate to expand their technical skills and contribute to new product development.

    As GCS is a fast and steadily growing company, this position offers the ability to play an integral role in the success of the business. The candidate will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the function of the research and development team, and their projects. This will include assisting in conducting testing on newly designed products, assembly and construction of testing rigs/customized solar racking solutions, and the monitoring of existing long-term testing for accuracy and performance. This position is designed as a role for a candidate to learn and grow with the team with opportunities for advancement with experience.

    Solar Field Research Technician Apprentice Role and Responsibilities:
    • Assist with conducting, measurement, and reporting on field testing activities to inform reporting and expedite completion of deliverables.
    • Perform field trials and report results to help transition R&D concepts into commercial products.
    • Conduct technically sound data collection and reporting to the engineering research team in a timely manner.
    • Assist the R&D team in the preparation of testing
    • Assist with fabrication of prototype racking components for use in testing
    • Manage accurate and consistent construction of racking systems according to prints and instructions
    • Monitor and management of long-term testing setups, conducting maintenance and repairs where required
    • Document and report damages observed during testing for analysis
    • Track and report inventory of newly arrived samples for testing
    • Track and report the movement and use of existing materials and samples on site
    • Communicate consistently with all members of the team to maintain efficiency of operations.
    • Observe and ensure the safe working conditions for all members of the team
    • Assist management to complete task assignments in a timely manner, and request resources as needed
    • Comply with all OSHA, job site and construction safety procedures.
    • Tasks may include travel to other sites within driving distance with management or independently as needed.
    Solar Field Research Technician Apprentice Required Skills and Education:
    • Preferred Education: A trade school degree or equivalent, ideally at the bachelor's level
    • Competency using electronic devices (computers/tablets/phones) with standard programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat and Online data Storage Systems (One Drive, Google Drive, etc.)
    • High level of competency using hand operated power tools including but not limited to: Angle grinders, Band Saws, Drills, Welders, Plasma Cutters, Impact Drivers, Acetylene Torch, Circular Saw, and all other basic construction power tools when working with metal.
    • Willingness to learn and accept constructive criticism when provided.
    • Ability to ask for assistance when a task is not fully understood before acting
    • Ability to work both as a team and take initiative independently when needed
    • Creative problem-solving mindset which can help with driving solutions while keeping safety in mind
    • Preferred experience operating machinery aside from standard highway vehicles (Forklift, ATV, Tractor, etc.)

    Supplier Quality Engineer

    Location: Eastern Michigan/Northern Ohio

    This position is responsible for controlling the Quality of Game Change Solar’s products and its subassemblies, manufactured in the United States, Midwest Region.

    This position is responsible for actively driving the quality control processes with suppliers and vendors of Game Change Solar India.

    Supplier Quality Engineer Role & Responsibilities:
    • In Quality Engineer position, take the defined responsibility of Raw material, In-process, Out-going quality,
      • a) Execution of Quality Plans of GCS USA Midwest from Michigan to Texas
      • b) Perform, attend or witness the quality inspections at supplier’s factory as defined by quality manager
      • c) Quality Resource control: Plan, monitor and get work done from vendor inspectors, measurement systems, equipment, tools and fixtures to execute quality plans.
      • d) Drive process improvements & Implement Quality tools.
    • Analyze quality issues, do root cause analysis and plan ICA, PCA and report it out (Trouble shoot quality related issues and develop sustainable actions & ensure implementation)
    • Interact with international/local suppliers, labs etc directly on quality issues
    • Prepare and/or approve Quality documentations like FAI, sample inspection, product delivery clearances, vendor audits and RCCA
    • Help the reporting manager to decide on the inspection and testing parameters, resources and methods
    • Do Continuous Quality improvement through 8D, MSA and SPC tools, CP CPk studies.
    • Bring continuous focus on problem solving and improving process controls
    • Implement product & process audits - Navigate the quality audits with team, identify NCs and closure of the open-ended elements
    • Train the vendor inspectors and operators on Quality – extend training support to suppliers
    • Learn industry best practices, identify the opportunities for improvements and implement it in own area
    • Manage teams of inspectors, train them and help achieve their quality performance and objectives

    Commissioning Engineer

    The Commissioning Engineer will work to support our team of technicians and our customers to commission our fleet of solar trackers. They will be responsible for ensuring trackers are operating at 100% by monitoring for faults and troubleshooting system failures. They will also be responsible for supporting commissioning of new projects – both remotely and on-site. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who has excellent communication and troubleshooting skills and wants to dive into real, everyday solar engineering problems. Your work will directly result in existing systems working more efficiently and producing more energy. We offer a solid base with significant bonus upside.

    Commissioning Engineer Roles and responsibilities include but will not be limited to:
    • Provide remote support for Commissioning Technicians, SCADA, and O&M teams
    • Use data from the Genius Tracker system to monitor for faults in the system
    • Handle incoming RMA requests from customers and work with them to resolve faults
    • Interface with Genius Tracker system with SSH and TCP/IP python scripts to send commands and get data
    • Network Configuration of tracker devices to project VLANs to integrate with customer SCADA.
    • Tracker Performance Verification
    • Documentation of commissioning and site performance efforts

    Field Technician - Travel Required

Our products are designed to be the fastest installing and most cost-effective in the industry. We are looking for an experienced Solar Field Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on, challenging and fast-paced position with bonus upside for highly exceptional performance. The candidate must be self-motivated, independent, and able to handle multiple priorities. Extended travel of 3 weeks on site and 4 days scheduled off will be required.

    Field Technician Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
    • Coordinate racking/tracker installation training with the customer prior to arrival on site (date, time, materials, tools, equipment, personnel, etc.).
    • Perform solar system installation training with customer personnel which involves installing the test row (must show by doing - not just repeating instructions contained in the Install Manual).
    • Manage all training activities and processes to ensure compliance with Install Manuals and Project Construction Drawings.
    • Inspect incoming materials per inspection plan and provide timely inspection reports to Customer Operations Manager and Supplier Quality Engineer.
    • Act as the system technical expert for all installation best practices and recommended means and methods. Provide guidance and direction regarding the compliance of project construction drawings./li>
    • Escalate technical requests to GCS Engineering team and works with the customer on GCS Engineering team response and recommendations.
    • Support and participate in regulatory QA/QC audits and inspections.
    • Develop and implement improvements to best-known means and methods.
    • Recommend product improvements to GCS Engineering and solicits customer feedback on product and installation.
    • Perform data analysis and prepares metrics and reports as requested.
    • Participate in cross-functional project teams to support the release of new products and related projects from an installation, reliability and quality perspective.
    • Perform, support and/or coordinate product failure investigation, corrective and preventive action, quality improvement projects, and supplier audits as needed.
    • May support the complaint investigation process to ensure timely evaluation and resolution of product quality issues.
    Field Technician Required Skills and Education:
    • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in construction and installation of utility scale solar trackers and fixed tilt systems
    • OSHA 10 certification is a plus
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent leadership, problem solving, team development, and critical thinking skills
    • High level of integrity with strong emphasis on making and meeting commitments

    Commissioning Technician

    We are looking to hire a travel Field Technician, with mechanical, electronic and networking experience. As a fast-growing company, this role offers an opportunity to manage a wide array of field operations with the potential for upward mobility within the company. The candidate must have experience working in an outdoor construction environment. We offer a solid base with large bonus upside for exceptional performance.

    Commissioning Technician [GC1] Roles and responsibilities include but will not be limited to:
    • Perform basic construction and commissioning related tasks on GCS PV systems.
    • Perform GCS system installation training and for customers during various phases of installation
    • Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning for GCS Installations
    • Perform all reporting requirements per GCS protocol
    • Utilize Continuous Improvement Principles to improve business processes and reduce total cost
    • Work closely with installation teams to improve means and methods, install safety, installation documentation, quality, and velocity
    • Drive Quality efforts to assure all installed products meet customer requirements
    • Lead root cause analysis relating to late deliveries or product deficiencies
    • Regular interface with customers and vendors relating to achieving and exceeding their expectations
    • Travel for key customer visits and construction site visits
    • Other related special projects and duties as assigned
    • Perform role of GCS Safety Lead, Quality Lead, and Productivity Lead for Turn-Key Installations and Site Work
    Commissioning Technician Skills and Education:
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Utility/Commercial Construction (Utility Solar experience preferred)
    • Experience in leading remote construction teams
    • Knowledge of wireless communication, networking experience preferred.
    • Excellent leadership, problem solving, customer service, team development, and critical thinking skills
    • High level of integrity with strong emphasis on making and meeting commitments
    • High sense of urgency with the ability to delegate and prioritize to meet required deadlines
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
